California Engagement - Open Space PreserveSubmitted by Elena on Sat, 12/03/2011 - 10:30I have never met a couple more warm, joyful, and kind than Ana and David. They are constantly laughing, dancing, and loving life with a passion we should all strive for. They wanted to do their engagement shoot in a quiet spot, surrounded by nature, because their wedding would take place in the heart of San Francisco's financial district (keep an eye out for those photos soon!). These two make me feel incredibly lucky to be a photographer, and I am so glad to know them.

HawaiiSubmitted by Elena on Tue, 11/29/2011 - 20:35I spent ten glorious days with THIS. Did a few very fun photo shoots, got a smart phone and entered the 21st century, and ate a *lot* of stuffing.

Women’s Cultural Arts Club - Montclair WeddingSubmitted by Elena on Mon, 11/07/2011 - 11:59Check out this Star Wars themed wedding! In order to complete the ceremony the bride and groom had to pass Star Wars and Breakfast Club quizzes, respectively. The bride's family was from Hawaii and most of the groomsmen (plus the groom himself) were Northwestern alums (like me).

Marine Mammal Center - Charity Gala EventSubmitted by Elena on Sun, 11/06/2011 - 23:02The Marine Mammal Center, located in the Marin Headlands, is one of my favorite organizations. I was honored when they asked me to photograph their 15th Annual Gala, hosted by Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, and his wife Livia. I was one of two photographers. The other photographer, Deb, is a great woman who happens to be Sylvia Earle's blogger. You can check out that blog here! If you don't know who Sylvia Earle is, head over to Google or TED immediately. I have been a big fan since approximately age 13 when I was lucky enough to work alongside her and NOAA in Hawaii. One of the best parts of photographing the MMC's gala was getting to meet people like Deb who are really making a difference in the world. You can see more of my photos (note: I was not responsible for any post-processing), along with Deb's, at the MMC Gala's website (my photos are the ones shot with a Canon). Love shooting at the Ferry Building!
The food, courtesy of Paula LeDuc Catering, was delicious and pretty...
Biz Stone spoke during the fundraising portion of the evening:
If you want to learn more about what the Marine Mammal Center does, I highly recommend you check out this fantastic episode of Nova. I watched it a few years ago and, as dorky as this may sound, being near the MMC was one of the reasons I was most excited to move to Northern Cailfornia. I can't say enough how lucky I feel to have participated in one of their events! |
